What is a balance disorder?
Vertigo is the most common balance disorder. People with balance disorders often experience dizziness and instability on their feet. The causes and symptoms of balance disorders vary and can be difficult to diagnose.
Balance is the body’s ability to maintain posture and stability. A properly functioning balance system allows us to walk, run, turn, and jump—to move without falling or feeling disoriented.
What is Vertigo?
Vertigo is a sensation of spinning – a specific kind of dizziness. Vertigo causes can be one of two things: disturbance in either the balance organs of the inner ear or parts of the brain or sensory nerve pathways. Dizziness and vertigo is a symptom rather than a medical condition.
What are Balance Tests?
Balance tests are designed to determine if vestibular dysfunction is causing dizziness or imbalance. The tests we perform help isolate the cause of dizziness so treatment or rehabilitation can begin.
