Catherine Worth, Au.D.
Doctor Of Audiology
Meet Catherine Worth, Au.D.
Catherine Worth began her career as an Intern at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque. Lovelace was made famous as the location for the medical testing of NASA’s Mercury astronauts. It was at Lovelace that she developed a profound appreciation for both state-of-the art technology and the life stories that her patients shared with her. Because we have such a rich history of culture and technology in New Mexico, she was able to work with many interesting people, scientists who had worked on the Manhattan project, test pilots, Navajo Code Talkers as well as world renown writers and artists.
She innovated many audiology programs at Lovelace, including the first medically based hearing aid dispensing program in the state. She spear-headed the use of electro-physiologic testing of the auditory system at Lovelace- including using that testing during brain surgeries. She was the audiologist on the team that performed the first cochlear implant in New Mexico. She was involved in research on both the auditory and balance systems and published articles and coauthored a book on treating hearing loss. She is currently working on a patient guide book about Tinnitus Treatment.
After serving as the Director of Audiology at Lovelace for many years, she founded a private practice (Worth Hearing Center) in 1998. She retired from that practice in 2019. She has been practicing as an Audiologist in Santa Fe at Capital Hearing Care since 2021. The Santa Fe practice is now headed by a younger and very competent audiologist. Catherine is happy to be back in Albuquerque where her daughter, son-in-law and three grand daughters live. She now joins the staff of the highly-rated Albuquerque Hearing and Balance in order to continue to do the work she loves on a part-time basis.
